NOT TODAY

In that split moment when my eyes drooped
My Mind stuttered as the red juice pooled
"I must hold on", I mused
But as I pushed towards the light, the hefty darkness. Pulled.

Death held my hand, smiled a tad
His eyes glowed, the wind growled
My heart thumped but my feet were stumped
My days whipped behind my eyes past

I know only one, god or gods
I've seen only thousands, and heard but one
Death is he for whom we dance
Our only prayer to him is "not today".
