Buhari, Osinbanjo Take this oath
Take this oath, and let me be
That the hunter not become the hunted
Or lost in the woods if your maliciousness
You would put the luminous dark at bay
Behind the curtains of your madness.
Take the oath just this once
That the ways of the pawns be made green
And the best of the knights not be enough
For your words mean nothing
And your grace saveth but nought
Take this oath by the right arm
For if you lose the word of the faith
At least, ought we not save the lyric of the oath?
So
Take this oath in the name of the sages
That your name too might echo through the ages
Surely my friend, the sun will set
One day all that will be left
Is the madness of the sages
And the infinite supremacy of truth.
That the hunter not become the hunted
Or lost in the woods if your maliciousness
You would put the luminous dark at bay
Behind the curtains of your madness.
Take the oath just this once
That the ways of the pawns be made green
And the best of the knights not be enough
For your words mean nothing
And your grace saveth but nought
Take this oath by the right arm
For if you lose the word of the faith
At least, ought we not save the lyric of the oath?
So
Take this oath in the name of the sages
That your name too might echo through the ages
Surely my friend, the sun will set
One day all that will be left
Is the madness of the sages
And the infinite supremacy of truth.
